This poem is from the book "The Grand Delusion" by Paul Spradley
THE GRAND DELUSION
Sit right down and be amused
We can have a good time here
With each other
But I refuse
To be accused
Of being your seducer
The prophet has the blues again tonight
The joker has been reduced to an average man
And the magician in top hat and cape
Has chosen to have you - for his next trick
What he creates is all an illusion
Though it will seem real
The best way to enjoy yourself
Is-
Forget this fact
After all, you should be used to his act by now
All you have to do is keep in mind
That this is what love is-
So settle back and relax
And enjoy his magic act
In the blackness of the room
In the comfort of the sack
You won't ever want to come back
